Effective Kitchen Storage

There are so many things to keep in the kitchen. We have to keep containers, appliances, utensils, and many other things as well. But the space is limited and we also have to make sure it looks clutter-free and organized. How do we do that? Here comes some of the most useful kitchen storage ideas that will make your life easy.

Useful Kitchen Storage

Label The Baskets

Labeling the baskets and containers will make them easy to find. You won’t have to look for things.

By doing this, cooking will become hassle-free. You can write names of the items on a small piece of paper and stick to the box using glue or you can buy adhesive labels, just write the name and stick it.

This works for other areas of the home also. In your cupboard or for drawers use labeling to locate items. It will save you a lot of time.

Opt For Pull Out Storage Space

You can keep oils, spices, and other important items in this pull-out storage space. You can see above how convenient it is to find items.

Keep small items in the top shelf and bigger bottles like vinegar and syrup can be stored in the bottom shelf.

This will save a lot of kitchen space. It is convenient to use, and you can access it easily. It is one of the best kitchen organization ideas.

Use Dish Holders To Keep Your Dishes Safe

Drawers are best for keeping your dishes. Use deep drawers to keep them. Deep drawers will let you store a lot of dishes becuase of their depth.

But if you just keep them in the drawer, and when you open and close the drawer, they will get scattered, so the best way to keep them organized is by keeping them in dish holders

The dish holders will protect your plate from any damage, too. When you are installing a drawer, you tell them your requirement for a dish holder, and they will get it done, but if you don’t have a dish holer you can buy one online.

Use Vertical Storage Space To Keep Pans

There is not enough space to keep all the items in the kitchen, I get it, but by organizing it properly and with proper planning, you can make the best use of the kitchen space.

A metal wire rack is one of the most effective ways to keep cutting boards and pans. Keep the rack inside the cupboard, and keep your pans and cutting board upright. This way you will only use the vertical space of cuboard and only a little horizontal space.

It looks so much more organized and saves a lot of space. It is also easier to locate, so now you will not have to look for things while cooking.

Mount Wall Cabinets

You are not able to find the right lid of your pan, and it is kept behind in the cupboard and when you grab one, unfortunately, it’s not the one you are looking for. We all have experienced that and that’s very frustrating

This happens when we don’t make the best use of the vertical space of the kitchen. A wall cabinet in the kitchen gives ample space to keep crockery and other utensils.

It is easy to access and looks organized too. Now you can easily keep your pans in the cupboard and hang the lid on the cupboard door.

Opt For Hanging Racks For Glasses

The glasses are very delicate and expensive, and need to be handled with utmost care. The wine glasses are well kept in the hanging rack in the image above.

It is a smart move to keep them on a floating shelf as the glasses are fragile so even a small mistake will cost you money. The glasses will be safe and it looks beautiful too.

The other crockery sets are also kept on the floating shelf for the same purpose. The white wall decor and white crockery are making the kitchen decor look elegant.

Hide Small Appliances In A Cabinet

Keeping the toaster, mixer, or juicer on the kitchen counter makes the counter look cluttered. They occupy a lot of space too.

It’s better to hide them in the cabinet and when you want to use any of these, take it out use it, and then put it back.

The pull-out drawer with racks shown above is ideal for keeping these appliances. You can keep these in the wall cabinet too.

Kitchen pegboards are one of the most effective ways to utilize the wall space in the kitchen.

You can keep your utensils there and it will be easy to locate them. It is one of my favorite kitchen storage ideas.

I know you can keep these items in the cupboard too but what if your cupboard is full and you don’t have enough space and the worst thing is you have to bend to find it, plus honestly, it’s not really easy to find as there are too many items in there.

Put Your Expensive Items On Display

If you have a beautiful set of wine glasses or expensive dishes, put them on display. Why hide them in the cabinet? You have spent so much time and money buying these, so it’s time your guests see your possessions.

Install long floating shelves above your kitchen counter and arrange your crockery. They will make your kitchen look even more beautiful.

You can hang a painting on the remaining area to make it look more interesting. You can see above that the wine glasses and dishes are organized so well.

Use Drawer Organizers

kitchen storage ideas

The drawer organizer is a great tool to keep your utensils in a neat and organized way. If you just keep them all in the drawer, and when you will open the drawer, they all will look scattered.

So a drawer organizer is a must to keep them all organized. It will be much easier to access the items you are looking for. You can also use a kitchen utensil holder to keep these items but there aren’t enough compartments for all the items.

But with only one drawer organizer, you can organize all the items. It looks clutter-free too.

Keep Water Bottles In The Organizers

It is always very confusing to decide where to keep water bottles, and what better than a bottle organizer to keep them in one place?

There is a bottle for water, for juice, for an energy drink and an insulated coffee mug too, so in a family of 4-5 there are around 15-20 bottles, and they occupy a lot of space.

This bottle organizer has made things so easy for us. It is one of the best kitchen storage ideas. Now we don’t have to look for our bottles anymore.

Opt For Free Standing Shelves

If you are in a rented apartment or you don’t have enough cupboard space or if you don’t have a separate kitchen room, then this bookshelf will make it so much more convenient for you.

One of the best ideas for kitchen storage is to keep items on the bookshelf. Yes, a bookshelf is not only for keeping books, but it is perfect for keeping kitchen items.

You can keep jars and plates on the shelf. Keep big items like the cooker or pots on the bottom shelf.

Install A Knife Rack

We usually keep a knife in the drawer, and for that you have to look down and find it. A knife is one of the most important tools while cooking, so it’s better to install a knife rack in front of the cooking platform.

This way, you will easily grab the type of knife you require at that time. It will save your time and energy.

The other important thing is that if you keep the knives in the drawer, you may hurt yourself while keeping it or taking them out, so it’s better to keep them in a knife rack.

Store Pans Vertically

It is far better to keep your pans vertically. Stacking them requires more space and if you want to take out the middle one you have to remove the pans above that first and then take out the one you require and then keep the others back to their place.

It’s a lot of hassle. If you keep them vertically, pick the one you want and also it’s easier to find. You can either make this storage on your own or buy it online.

Use A Kitchen Island For Storage

A kitchen island is not only for chopping vegetables and meal prep, it’s also much more than that. It is a huge storage area.

You can install drawers and cabinets on all sides of the kitchen area and keep your kitchen items there. Make small wine storage areas too, as shown above. If you don’t have a separate pantry room, you can keep the items here in these cabinets.

You can also opt for a movable kitchen island; this way, you can easily grab the pantry items or utensils when you are cooking.

Create Extra Storage In The Cabinet

The cabinet is smartly built for cutting boards, baking sheets, and trays of different sizes. There are multiple compartments, so it will be easier to look for things.

Because of the compartments, the trays and boards will remain upright. This is the perfect place to keep muffin tins and wire racks too. The cabinets are painted in neutral colors that make the decor look classy.

Use Pull-Out Recycle Bins

A dustbin is not something you want to show as a prized possession, and I am not a big fan of keeping freestanding recycling bins out in the open.

Either you hide it somewhere or keep it under your kitchen sink. I saw a picture of a pull-out recycle bin in a magazine sometime back and I liked it.

In one of your cabinets, you can install it. To make the area odourless, keep a small jar of baking soda.

Use Pot And Pan Organizer

credit-@wayfair

A pot organizer is a great way to arrange your pots and pans properly in the cabinet. These utensils occupy a lot of space, and if you stack them, you have to remove them one by one to get the pot you are looking for.

It’s a sheer waste of time, and honestly, it’s quite frustrating. By using an organizer, you can easily pick the one you are looking for.

Install A Cleaning Station

credit-@bhg

The cleaning items are essential for cleaning, but it is really a big task to find a space for them as I don’t want to keep them near the sink, as it doesn’t look tidy.

I used to keep these under the sink, but I had to bend again and again to grab a sponge or clean supplies. A metal caddy is a perfect place for them.

Hang this caddy, use the upper shelf for sponge and scrub while keeping the cleaning bottles in the bottom shelf. It is convenient and looks clutter-free too.

Create Space For Lids In The Cabinet

credit-@bhg

Whenever I clean the food containers, I keep the lid and the container separately and let them dry out. But in doing so, I have misplaced a couple of lids, and becuase of this, the food containers are of no use.

I mounted a wall file organizer inside the cabinet door and keep the lids there. Now I can easily find my lids.

Install Slim Storage

credit-@apartment therapy

A pull-out slim storage space is perfect to keep mops, sponge and other cleaning supplies. It is a clever kitchen storage idea as it requires vertical space and hardly any horizontal space.

You can see in the image above that the storage area is pulled out, and you can take out the mop and other cleaning supplies. Even a long-handled mop can be easily kept here.

Spice Drawer Organizer

This DIY kitchen storage idea is one of the best ways to keep your spices. To make risers, the supplies needed are a measuring tape, sandpaper, plywood boards, a table saw and wood glue.

Arrange the risers inside the drawer and keep the spices. This way, they will not be scattered when you open the drawer.

Install Pull Out Cabinet Organizer

Pull out cabinet organizer is one of the smartest ideas for kitchen storage. You don’t have to search for things; just pull out the cabinet organizer, grab the utensil you want.

Go for a multi-level pull-out cabinet organizer as you will be able to store a different set of utensils. You can install pull out cabinet organizer for other utensils too. It will make cooking a breeze.

Use An Open Cabinet For Storage

credit-@bhg

We need to have both open and close cabinets for our kitchen needs. The closed cabinet is important to hide your utensils and cleaning supplies.

While the open cabinet is important to keep food items like potatoes, squash and onions. You can store them in the basket like its shown above.

Store Heavy Utensils On Walls

The heavy utensils like pots and pans occupy a lot of space. If there is not enough space in the cabinet, where are you going to keep these big utensils?

Well, you have the entire kitchen wall area. You can hang all your heavy items there. Build a couple of shelves too, to keep small containers.

This is a great kitchen decor, as nobody wants to look at plain, boring wall. Keep the utensils organized and it will be a sight to behold.
